About Us

Welcome to Tomes and Tales, your community-focused destination for new and used books, luxury loose-leaf tea, and unique local gifts in Pitt Meadows. As the new owners, Tiffany and Karthik are honored to carry on the stores long legacy, while bringing their own passion for literature and community connection to the shop. Beyond our vast selection of curated titles, we take pride in offering specialty items like Silk Road Tea, Barefoot Venus bath products, and a beautiful collection of crystals and jewelry from local artists. Whether you’re stopping by to find your next favorite read, joining us for an upcoming community event, or simply to say hello, we look forward to meeting you and continuing to make Tomes and Tales a special place for all.

Hello! I'm a lifelong book lover who’s been hooked since reading Danny the Champion of the World with my mum. Father to two wild "Can-Australian" girls (future readers in progress!), and a firm believer in the magic of a good used bookstore. I love the character and community of the Lower Mainland’s bookshop scene, and I'm excited to help establish Tomes & Tales as a destination store in that scene. I’m always happy to chat books and share recommendations, and I'm finding that the Pitt Meadows reading community regularly puts me to shame! A favorite read of mine is The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck, a novel I keep coming back to for its honesty and humanity.

My passion for reading developed at a young age, inspired by my mother’s deep appreciation for libraries and secondhand bookstores. Constantly surrounded by books, I quickly became an avid reader, developing a deep appreciation for literature and a strong desire to share that passion with others. Now studying to become a librarian, I find the journey both challenging and fun, though there’s still a long way to go. My favourite book, Fahrenheit 451, serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of literacy and the dangers of censorship. This message is just as important today as it was in 1953, when the novel was first published. Growing up in the Lower Mainland, I’ve experienced its beauty firsthand—not just in its stunning landscapes, but in the warmth and character of its people. Working at Tomes & Tales has only deepened my connection to this community, and I take great pride in being able to give back in my own small way.

Hi! I’m Elliot. I’m an actor (I like to be dramatic 😄) and I love making art. I also really like reading graphic novels - they’re the best! My favourite graphic novel is Smile by Raina Telgemeier, and my favourite middle-grade novel is The First State of Being by Erin Entrada Kelly. My favorite part of school is recess and also going home time. Those are both very important. I like to have fun, be creative, and maybe one day I’ll be famous. 🎭

Store Nana

Hi, I’m Kelsey. I’m a fan of cozy mysteries, especially British ones, and I enjoy helping customers in the store choose books they’ll enjoy. I’m particularly fond of authors like Helena Dixon, Verity Bright, Rhys Bowen, Iona Whishaw, Tasha Alexander, Vicki Delany, and Colleen Cambridge. I spend my time quilting, doing cross stitch, and playing Kings cribbage. I also follow the Toronto Blue Jays.

Hi there, I’m Tiffany. I’m a bookstore owner who unintentionally added “content creator” to my job description. I moved with Elliot to Pitt Meadows in 2018 because my Mom lived here and I haven't regretted a day since. It's such a magical city to live in and I feel blessed to run a small business here with Karthik. It's been so nice meeting such lovely people in our community. I’m a huge thriller fan, especially anything by Robyn Harding! I may have peaked early in my bookstore ownership career when she came to an event at the store in early 2026 - a forever core memory! I have a bit of an obsession with peanut butter O’Henry bars, overthinking, and clouds - not necessarily in that order.

Hi! I am Karthik. I have been a big reader ever since my dad got me a membership to the local lending in Chennai, India when I was ~7. I cut my teeth on Enid Blyton’s books and devoured anything I could lay my hands on through my school years. Books were expensive and precious when I was growing up and it would have seemed inconceivable to my young self that I would one day co-own a bookstore with Tiff filled with more books than I can read in this life time! These days I read a mix of non-fiction, literary fiction, sci-fi, and fantasy. Some recent favorites - 99 Ways to Die by Ashely Alker, Welcome to the Hyunam-Dong Bookshop by Hwang Bo-reum, and Who We Are and How We Got Here by David Reich. I love tech, most sports (Go Canucks Go!), traveling, puttering around my garden, and being a dad to my 9 year old son. In addition to being primary tech support for most people in my life, I have now assumed that role for the store as well. And yes, I am to blame for all bugs on this website.
