At Tomes & Tales, we love giving books a second life. Bring in your gently used books and, for those we accept, we'll offer store credit that you can put toward your next great read.
How Book Credit Works
- Used Books: Store credit can be applied toward up to 50% of the purchase price of used books. The remaining balance must be paid using another accepted payment method.
- New Book Pre-Orders: Want to reserve an upcoming release? You can use your store credit toward up to 10% of the purchase price of new books you pre-order.
- Credit Value: The amount of credit offered is determined by our team based on the book's condition, demand and anticipated resale value.
- Sharing Credit: Book credit is associated with your customer account and may be shared among members of the same household. Credit cannot be transferred to individuals outside your household.
- Books Only: Store credit can only be used toward eligible book purchases and cannot be applied to other merchandise or products, including gifts, accessories or gift cards.
- No Cash Value: Book credit cannot be redeemed for cash.
What Books Do We Accept?
We love receiving books in excellent, gently used condition. However, as a small independent bookstore with limited shelf space, we need to be selective about what we bring into our collection.
Tomes & Tales reserves the right to determine which books are accepted based on:
- The overall condition of the book
- Available space in our store
- The likelihood of the book selling
- The number of copies of the same title already in our inventory
Please understand that we may not be able to accept every book, even if it is in excellent condition.
What Happens to Books We Can't Accept?
We believe every book deserves the opportunity to find another reader!
If we're unable to accept some of your books, you're welcome to collect them. Alternatively, we're happy to help give them a new home through donations to organizations and community initiatives, including Crossroads Hospice, Alisa's Wish, St. Paul's Hospital and local Little Free Libraries.
Please note: Books that are not accepted and remain uncollected seven (7) calendar days after the original drop-off date will automatically be donated. By leaving books with us, you acknowledge and agree to this policy.
