Vera Mindy Chokalingam (known professionally as Mindy Kaling) is an American actress, comedian, writer, producer, and author. She first gained recognition as a writer and performer on the NBC sitcom The Office and later created and starred in The Mindy Project. Kaling has written several bestselling memoirs and has produced and written multiple television series, drawing frequently on her experiences as a first-generation Indian American.
