Barbara Mutch is a South African-born author known for her historical fiction novels that explore themes of love, identity, and social change against the backdrop of South African history. Born and raised in South Africa as the granddaughter of Irish immigrants, she later moved to the United Kingdom, dividing her time between Surrey, England, and Cape Town, South Africa. Before her writing career, she worked in pharmacy and management. Her debut novel, The Housemaid's Daughter (2012), became an international bestseller.
