Jeanne Achterberg

Jeanne Achterberg (1942–2012) was an American psychologist and researcher known for her work on the therapeutic application of guided imagery and creative visualization. She held a Ph.D. in General Experimental Psychology from Texas Christian University, served on the faculty at Southwestern Medical School and the Saybrook Institute, and contributed to research and advisory panels on mind-body interventions and complementary medicine. Her influential book Imagery in Healing (1985) explores the role of mental imagery in healing, drawing connections between shamanic healing practices and contemporary medical research.
