Alexandra Ballard has worked as a magazine editor, middle-school English teacher, freelance writer, and cake maker. She holds master's degrees from Columbia University (journalism) and Fordham University (education). She taught middle school for ten years, beginning in the Bronx and ending in Berkeley, California. Her debut novel, 'What I Lost,' was inspired by her own struggle with and recovery from an eating disorder. She currently writes full-time and lives in the Bay Area with her husband, two daughters, and two dogs.
