Hillary Rodham Clinton (born October 26, 1947) is an American politician, diplomat, lawyer, author, and public figure. She served as First Lady of the United States (1993–2001), U.S. Senator from New York (2001–2009), and as the 67th U.S. Secretary of State (2009–2013). A member of the Democratic Party, she was the party's nominee for president in 2016. Clinton is also the author or co-author of multiple books, including the 2021 political thriller "State of Terror" co-written with Louise Penny, as well as nonfiction works such as "Living History," "Hard Choices," and "What Happened."
