Martin A. Miller is an American historian specializing in modern Russian history, psychoanalysis, and terrorism. He is a Professor Emeritus of History at Duke University. His academic background includes a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in 1967. Miller's work often explores the complex interplay between state, society, and political violence, as well as the history of ideas and movements in Russia. He has authored several books, including 'Kropotkin' (1976), 'The Russian Revolutionary Emigrés, 1825–1870' (1986), 'Freud and the Bolsheviks: Psychoanalysis in Imperial Russia and the Soviet Union' (1999), and 'The Foundations of Modern Terrorism' (2013).
