Bradford Angier was an American wilderness survivalist and proponent of back-to-earth living. He authored more than 35 books on how to survive in the wild and live off the land according to minimalist precepts. He and his wife, Vena, moved to British Columbia, Canada, in 1947 to live off the land, inspired by Henry David Thoreau. They lived in a prospector's cabin, which they repaired, and Angier began learning to hunt and gather wild food, eventually leading him to write survival books. His wife, Vena, illustrated several of his books. The couple later moved to Cambria, California, and then returned to British Columbia. Angier was known as "Mr. Outdoors".
