Carola Beresford-Cooke

Carola Beresford-Cooke is a renowned practitioner and teacher of Shiatsu and acupuncture. Born in 1947, she spent her early years in Malaysia, Singapore, Bali, and Java before returning to the UK for her education. After exploring various career paths, including working for the BBC World Service and managing a London bistro, she found her calling in bodywork and healing. She began studying Shiatsu in 1978 and later qualified in acupuncture. Beresford-Cooke is the author of the influential textbook "Shiatsu Theory and Practice," which has been translated into several languages and is considered a key reference in the field. She has also produced a series of DVDs on Shiatsu meridians. She was a founding member of the Shiatsu Society UK and has taught extensively. Beresford-Cooke retired from practice in March 2022 and currently lives in a remote village in West Wales.
