Arthur Black
Arthur Raymond Black (30 August 1943 – 21 February 2018) was a Canadian humourist, author and radio broadcaster best known as the longtime host of CBC Radio One's Basic Black (1983–2002). He wrote a syndicated weekly humour column for around 40 years and published a long series of humour collections and essay collections. A three-time winner of the Stephen Leacock Memorial Medal for Humour, Black lived for many years on Salt Spring Island, British Columbia, and continued to contribute to radio and local causes until his death from pancreatic cancer in 2018.
