The Shadow of the Storm

The third book in the Fallen Cloud Saga continues the story of an alternate history where President George Custer is prepared to wage war against the Indian nations of the Cheyenne Alliance for possession of the unsettled frontier. Unaware that his only son, George Armstrong Custer II, lives among them as an accomplished Cheyenne warrior, the President's war plans threaten to pit father against son. The younger Custer arrives in Washington as an ambassador to the U.S. in a joint effort with the New Spanish to protect the Cheyenne Alliance from U.S. expansion. However, attempts at U.S.-Cheyenne rapprochement are ruined by a young immigrant named Cesare, who, after losing his family in the West and being drawn into underground politics, attempts to assassinate President Custer.
