GBI investigator Will Trent and medical examiner Sara Linton are finally on their honeymoon, seeking a romantic getaway at the secluded, off-the-grid McAlpine Lodge in the Georgia mountains. Their idyllic retreat is violently interrupted by a bone-chilling scream in the night, leading them to the shocking discovery of a murder: Mercy McAlpine, the lodge's manager, is found dead. A vicious storm rages, washing out the sole access road and trapping everyone on the mountain, turning the retreat into a classic locked-room mystery.
