The Undomestic Goddess A Novel

Samantha Sweeting is a high-powered, workaholic attorney in London who is solely focused on achieving a partnership at her law firm. After realizing she has made a mistake so catastrophic it will ruin her career, she suffers a complete meltdown and walks out of her office. She gets on a train and ends up in the middle of nowhere. Asking for directions at a large, beautiful house, she is mistakenly offered a job as the housekeeper. Her new employers are unaware they've hired a Cambridge-educated lawyer, and Samantha, who has an IQ of 158, is completely clueless about household chores; she can't use the oven, sew a button, or even open the ironing board. The story follows her comical disasters as she begins to cope, learn new skills, and gradually fall in love with her new, simpler life. The central question becomes whether her old life will catch up with her and, if it does, whether she will want it back.
