They call themselves the Brethren: three disgraced former judges doing time in a minimum-security Florida federal prison for various crimes, including tax evasion, skimming profits, and a drunken joyride. Meeting daily in the prison law library, they devise a wickedly brilliant extortion scam, targeting wealthy closeted individuals via a mail scam. Their scheme is highly successful until they unwittingly ensnare a powerful figure: a US presidential candidate. The Brethren's victim is secretly being manipulated in a bizarre presidential election plot orchestrated by a ruthless and soon-to-retire director of the CIA, who will stop at nothing to cover up the candidate's secret and protect his political agenda. The judges soon find themselves caught in a dangerous web of political intrigue and cover-ups far beyond the prison walls.
