Twenty eight year old Sophie Garou's got a life most women would envy. She's up for partnership with a Big Four accounting firm in Austin, she's got a terrific boyfriend who's not afriad of the M-word and her closet is dead ringer for a Nordstrom's dressing room. In fact, Sophie's life is just about perfect except for one minor detail. She's also a werewolf. Since a tendency to sprout extra teeth and a fur coat can be a bit of a social handicap, Sophie's spent most of her life trying to put her paranormal past behind her, which is hard to do when your mom runs a magic shop in the middle of town. And although it's not always possible for Sophie to keep her hairy little secret under wraps, regular doses of wolfsbane tea do help. Still when a hot werewolf rolls into town (one with golden eyes and biceps to die for) Sophie finds herself struggling to keep her animal impulses in check. Not to mention to keep things on track with her buff lawyer boyfriend. But Sophie's romantic entanglements aren't the only things threatening to come unleashed. Until now Sophie's always managed to keep her double life hidden. But when someones deposits a box of wolfsbane and note on her desk, she relizes that the cat (or in this case, the wolf) may soon be out of the bag. Then the cops slap Sophie's mother in jail for selling a poison-laced potion, and it's up to Sophie to sniff our the culprits. Because the stakes couldn't be higher ... and at least one of them is aimed right at Sophie.
