The book tells the story of Pinocchio, a mischievous wooden puppet carved by the poor, elderly woodcarver Geppetto, who longs to become a real boy. Unlike an ordinary marionette, Pinocchio is magically brought to life and immediately begins a series of wild adventures. Driven by his desire for humanity, he repeatedly succumbs to temptation and dishonesty, a trait famously symbolized by his nose growing longer every time he tells a lie. His journey is a moral odyssey where he encounters various characters, including the kindly Blue Fairy, the deceitful Fox and Cat, and other pitfalls that test his character. Through a process of misadventures and hard-learned lessons about honesty, self-sacrifice, and the value of hard work, Pinocchio eventually proves himself worthy and achieves his ultimate dream of being transformed into a real boy.
