Mark Lawrence

Mark Lawrence (born 1966) is an American–British novelist and research scientist, best known for dark epic fantasy series such as The Broken Empire, The Red Queen's War, the Book of the Ancestor, and the Library Trilogy. He has a background in physics and holds a PhD in mathematics; earlier in his career he worked in artificial intelligence and has held secret-level clearance with both US and UK governments. Lawrence is the founder/organiser of the Self-Published Fantasy Blog-Off and has won the David Gemmell Legend Award (Emperor of Thorns).
