Colin Meloy (born October 5, 1974) is an American singer-songwriter and author, best known as the frontman of the indie folk rock band The Decemberists and as the author of the Wildwood Chronicles, a middle-grade fantasy series illustrated by his wife Carson Ellis. He has also written picture books and young readers' fiction; his work often draws on folk tales, classic fantasy influences, and a strong sense of place tied to Oregon and the Pacific Northwest.
