William Dietrich

William Alan Dietrich (born 1951) is an American novelist, non-fiction writer and journalist. A former reporter for The Seattle Times, he shared the Pulitzer Prize for National Reporting in 1990 for coverage of the Exxon Valdez oil spill. Dietrich has written environmental nonfiction about the Pacific Northwest as well as historical novels and thrillers—including the Ethan Gage Napoleonic-era series—and has taught environmental journalism and writing at Western Washington University.
