Emma Clayton

Emma Clayton (born 1968) is a British author of children’s and young-adult dystopian fiction, best known for The Roar (2008) and its sequel The Whisper (2012). Trained initially as a field archaeologist and later working as a freelance illustrator, she studied film and screenwriting before publishing her debut novel. The Roar was nominated for the Carnegie Medal and won the Yorkshire Coast Book Award; it has also appeared on several honour and reading lists.
