
John Steinbeck
John Ernst Steinbeck Jr. (1902–1968) was an American novelist, short-story writer, and journalist. His work often focused on the lives of working-class Americans during the early-to-mid 20th century and on social and economic injustice. Major works include The Grapes of Wrath, Of Mice and Men, East of Eden, and Cannery Row. He received the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction and the Nobel Prize in Literature, and his books remain widely read and taught.
