Chris Crutcher

Chris Crutcher (born July 17, 1946) is an American novelist, family therapist, and longtime writer of realistic novels for young adults. Raised in Cascade, Idaho, he draws on experience as a teacher, director of an alternative K–12 school, and a child and family therapist to write character-driven stories that address difficult issues facing teenagers. His work has been frequently recognized and sometimes challenged; he received the American Library Association's Margaret A. Edwards Award in 2000 for his contribution to young adult literature.
