John Anthony Flanagan is an Australian author best known for his medieval fantasy series, the Ranger's Apprentice, and its sister series, the Brotherband Chronicles. Before becoming a full-time novelist, he worked in advertising and co-created the popular Australian television sitcom 'Hey Dad!'. He began writing the Ranger's Apprentice series as a collection of short stories to encourage his son, Michael, to read.
