Barbara Claassen Smucker

Barbara Claassen Smucker (1915–2003) was an American-born author of children's and young adult fiction who lived in Canada for many years. She was known for her historical fiction, which often explored themes of social justice, minority groups, and the Mennonite experience. Her most famous work, 'Underground to Canada', is widely studied in Canadian schools.
