
Barbara Park
Barbara Park (1947–2013) was a prolific and beloved American author of children's books, best known for her wildly popular 'Junie B. Jones' series. Originally intending to become a high school history teacher, she turned to writing as a way to express her humor and connect with young readers. Throughout her career, she authored over 50 books, including middle-grade novels like 'Skinnybones' and 'Mick Harte Was Here', which often explored themes of family, school life, and childhood experiences with a blend of wit and heart. She was also a dedicated advocate for ovarian cancer awareness, co-founding the non-profit organization Sisters in Survival.
