Madeline Ashby (born April 24, 1983) is an American–Canadian science fiction writer and consulting futurist based in Toronto. She is the author of the Machine Dynasty trilogy (beginning with vN), iD, and the cyber‑noir novel Company Town. In addition to fiction, she works as a strategic foresight consultant and has developed science‑fiction prototypes and futures work for organizations including Intel Labs, the Institute for the Future, Nesta, the Atlantic Council and others. Her writing and commentary have appeared in outlets such as The Atlantic, MIT Technology Review, WIRED and Slate.
