Tasha Spillett
Tasha Spillett is an Afro-Indigenous author, educator, scholar, and advocate of Cree and Trinidadian descent. Her work focuses on amplifying marginalized voices, particularly Indigenous women and girls, and fostering spaces of empowerment, belonging, and liberation. She is a New York Times bestselling author known for her graphic novel series 'Surviving the City' and the picture book 'I Sang You Down from the Stars'. Spillett holds a Master's degree and is a PhD candidate in Indigenous Land-Based Education from the University of Saskatchewan. Her advocacy extends to community-led initiatives and creating culturally responsive learning environments.
