Kristine O'Connell George

Kristine O'Connell George is an acclaimed American poet and writer, recognized as one of the principal voices in contemporary children's poetry. Her work often draws inspiration from nature and everyday moments, transforming them into accessible and lyrical poems. George began her journey into children's poetry after taking a class with Myra Cohn Livingston at the UCLA Writer's Program in 1989. She has since taught poetry writing for children at UCLA and served as a poetry consultant for PBS's Storytime. Her numerous awards include the Lee Bennett Hopkins Poetry Award, the Golden Kite Award, and the Myra Cohn Livingston Award for Excellence in Children's Poetry. George is also a frequent speaker at conferences and visits schools to conduct poetry workshops.
