Elizabeth Honey

Elizabeth Madden Honey is an Australian author, illustrator, and poet, known for her children's picture books and middle-grade novels. She was born in Wonthaggi, Victoria, and grew up on a dairy farm. A sickly child, she became an avid reader. After studying art and being part of Australia's first film school in the 1960s, she worked in film, advertising, and as a freelance illustrator before finding her passion in writing and illustrating children's books. Her stories are often humorous, featuring strong characters, and sometimes draw inspiration from her own family life. She has also written poetry and plays. Her books have been published internationally and translated into multiple languages. She lives in Richmond, Melbourne.
