Violette Malan

Violette Malan is a Canadian editor and fantasy writer with Spanish and Polish roots. She holds a PhD in 18th-century English literature from York University. Malan has worked as a teacher of creative writing, English as a second language, Spanish, and French, and has also been an administrative assistant and a carpenter's helper. Her most unusual job was translating letters between lovers who spoke only English and Spanish, respectively. She is the author of several fantasy novels, including the Dhulyn and Parno series and The Mirror Prince series, and has also written under the pseudonym V. M. Escalada. Malan is also a co-founder of the Scene of the Crime Festival, which celebrates Canadian crime fiction.
