Tanya Huff

Tanya Sue Huff is a Canadian fantasy and science fiction author, born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, in 1957. She was raised in Kingston, Ontario. Huff joined the Canadian Naval Reserve in 1975 and served until 1979. She earned a Bachelor of Applied Arts degree in Radio and Television Arts from Ryerson Polytechnical Institute in 1982. Before becoming a full-time writer, she worked at a game store and then at Bakka, a science fiction bookstore in Toronto. Huff began publishing her work in the late 1980s. Her stories often feature diverse characters and themes, and she is known for her blend of genres, including fantasy, science fiction, horror, and comedy. Her Blood Books series, featuring detective Vicki Nelson, was adapted into the television series Blood Ties. Huff currently resides in rural Ontario with her wife, fellow fantasy writer Fiona Patton.
