Minnie Darke

Minnie Darke is the romantic fiction pen name of Australian author Danielle Wood. Born in Hobart, Tasmania, she grew up surrounded by stories and a strong sense of place. Wood's early career was in journalism, which provided a practical training ground for observing and listening to people. She later completed a PhD in writing. Under her own name, Danielle Wood writes fiction, nonfiction, and essays, often exploring themes of history, fairy tales, and the peculiar aspects of everyday life. As Minnie Darke, she writes warm, witty novels about love, chance, and the small nudges that can alter a life's course. Her books often feature relatable characters navigating complex relationships, family histories, and the interplay of choice and luck. Tasmania and Australia are frequently depicted as lived-in places in her work. Wood also writes children's books as Angelica Banks in collaboration with Heather Rose. She has taught creative writing at the University of Tasmania and lives and works in Tasmania.
