Alexandre-Joseph-Hidulphe Vincent
Alexandre-Joseph-Hidulphe Vincent was a French mathematician, musicologist, and scholar. He was born in Hesdin, Pas-de-Calais, on November 20, 1897, and died in Paris on November 26, 1868. Vincent studied at the École normale supérieure from 1816 to 1820. He then worked as a professor of mathematics and physics at various lycées in Reims and Paris. He also published numerous articles on mathematics, the history of mathematics, Greek geometry, and musical notation. He was a member of several learned societies, including the Académie des inscriptions et belles-lettres, and was an officer of the Legion of Honour, the Order of Public Instruction, and the Order of the Redeemer of Greece.
