Sinclair, John (Editor)

John Sinclair was an American poet, writer, political activist, and talent manager. He was born in Flint, Michigan, and is known for his jazz poetry, often released in audio formats with musical accompaniment. Sinclair was a prominent figure in the counterculture movement of the 1960s, managing the rock band MC5 and co-founding the White Panther Party. He was also a vocal advocate for marijuana legalization. His activism led to a prison sentence in 1969, which sparked a significant protest movement. Sinclair also contributed to various publications as a journalist and music critic, focusing on jazz and blues. He lived in New Orleans and later Amsterdam, where he founded the John Sinclair Foundation to preserve his creative works. He died in Detroit, Michigan, in April 2024 at the age of 82.
