James Lee Burke (born December 5, 1936) is an American novelist best known for his Dave Robicheaux series of crime novels. Raised on the Texas–Louisiana Gulf Coast, Burke has written literary and hard-edged crime fiction celebrated for its lyrical prose, sense of place, and moral complexity. He is a multi-time Edgar Award winner and recipient of major lifetime honors in crime writing.
