Jenifer Lewis is an American actress, singer, comedian, and activist, widely known as "The Mother of Black Hollywood." She began her career in Broadway musicals and as a backup singer for Bette Midler before transitioning to film and television. Lewis is recognized for her numerous roles as a mother figure in popular movies and TV shows, including "What's Love Got to Do With It," "Poetic Justice," "The Preacher's Wife," and "Black-ish." She has also lent her voice to animated characters in Disney-Pixar films such as "The Princess and the Frog" and the "Cars" franchise. Lewis is also an author, with her memoir "The Mother of Black Hollywood" becoming a bestseller. She has been honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and received numerous awards for her contributions to entertainment.
