Donalyn Miller
Donalyn Miller is an award-winning Texas educator, author, and advocate for independent reading. She has taught upper elementary and middle school language arts and social studies in Texas and is known for her work in cultivating reading habits in young people. Miller is the author or co-author of several books, including "The Book Whisperer," "Reading in the Wild," and "The Joy of Reading." She is also the co-founder of The Nerdy Book Club blog and has contributed articles to various educational publications. Miller's approach emphasizes self-selected independent reading, giving students time to read books they choose, and using teachers' own love of reading as a model. She has received multiple teaching awards, including TCTELA's Edmund J. Farrell Distinguished Lifetime Achievement Award.
