This is a shared-world fantasy anthology, edited by Lynn Abbey, featuring ten all-original tales set in the notorious, magic-ruled city of Sanctuary. The volume explores a new era for the lawless city, which has reached a major 'turning point.' The secret guardian of the city, Molin Torchholder, has died, and his mantle and staff have been secretly passed to a new successor. The glorious past—including the Rankan reign and the age of the original heroes like Tempus and Shadowspawn—is now nothing but myth and rumor. In this new, harsher reality, the city is governed by outsiders who rule with an 'iron hand and a bloody dagger.' Contributors include Raymond E. Feist and Diana L. Paxson.
