Maggie Stiefvater (born Heidi Hummel on 1981-11-18) is an American author best known for young-adult fantasy novels including the Shiver trilogy, The Scorpio Races, and The Raven Cycle. Originally a portrait artist and musician, she graduated with a B.A. in history from the University of Mary Washington. Stiefvater has published novels for teens and adults, is a New York Times bestselling author, and lives in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia with her family.
