Melina Marchetta (born 25 March 1965) is an Australian author and screenwriter best known for her award-winning young adult novels such as Looking for Alibrandi, Saving Francesca and On the Jellicoe Road. Her work spans contemporary YA, coming-of-age stories and fantasy (the Lumatere Chronicles). Marchetta has won multiple awards including the Michael L. Printz Award and CBCA Children's Book of the Year awards, and has adapted Looking for Alibrandi for film. She lives in Sydney, Australia.
