Melanie Hamrick (born July 17, 1987) is an American choreographer, author, and retired ballerina. Born and raised in Williamsburg, Virginia, she trained at the Kirov Academy of Ballet and danced with the American Ballet Theatre for fifteen-plus years before retiring in 2019. She has worked as a choreographer and producer and is the author of the novels First Position (2023) and The Unraveling. Her writing draws on her experiences in the professional ballet world.
