Dave Eggers

Dave Eggers (born March 12, 1970) is an American writer, editor, publisher, and philanthropist. He first rose to wide attention with the bestselling, critically acclaimed memoir A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius (2000). He founded the independent publishing house McSweeney's and co-founded the youth writing nonprofit 826 Valencia and the oral-history series Voice of Witness, as well as the ScholarMatch scholarship nonprofit. Eggers's fiction and nonfiction include You Shall Know Our Velocity, What Is the What, Zeitoun, A Hologram for the King, The Circle, and numerous books for younger readers. He lives in Northern California with his family.
