Ransom Riggs (born February 3, 1979) is an American author and filmmaker best known for the Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children series, which blends vintage photography with supernatural, gothic-tinged young adult storytelling. He studied English literature at Kenyon College and film at the University of Southern California. Riggs has also written non-fiction about photography and tie-in guides, and his Miss Peregrine series was adapted into a feature film directed by Tim Burton.
