James Dean

James Dean is an American artist, author, and illustrator best known as the creator of the Pete the Cat character and series. A self-taught artist originally from Fort Payne, Alabama, he worked as an electrical engineer before pursuing art full-time. Dean began painting Pete the Cat in the late 1990s and has since written and/or illustrated dozens of Pete the Cat titles, several of which have been New York Times bestsellers. He lives in Savannah, Georgia, and serves as the illustrator and creative director for the Pete the Cat franchise.
