Robert Hass

Robert Hass is an American poet, essayist, and translator, known for his work rooted in the landscapes of Northern California. He served as the Poet Laureate of the United States from 1995 to 1997, during which he championed literacy and environmental awareness. He is a recipient of the Pulitzer Prize, the National Book Award, and a MacArthur Fellowship, and is a Distinguished Professor in Poetry and Poetics at the University of California, Berkeley.
