Before becoming a full-time writer, she worked in various roles including music therapist, teacher, and psychiatric social worker. Her debut novel, Trust (1999), was adapted into a British television film titled Loving You. She is known for her work in contemporary and historical fiction, often exploring complex emotional themes.
