Bret Lott

Bret Lott is an American author and professor known for his novels, short story collections, and memoirs that often explore themes of family, faith, and Southern life. He gained significant national attention when his 1991 novel, Jewel, was selected for Oprah's Book Club. Throughout his career, he has served as a professor of English at the College of Charleston and as the editor of The Southern Review. He has received numerous honors, including a Fulbright Senior American Scholar award and an appointment to the National Council on the Arts.
