Bill Martin, Jr. (1916–2004) was a prominent American educator, publishing executive, and prolific author of over 300 children's books. Despite not learning to read until college, he became a passionate advocate for early childhood literacy, known for his rhythmic, repetitive, and musical writing style. He is best known for his classic picture book 'Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?' and his collaboration with illustrator Eric Carle.
