Yasmina Khadra is the pen name of Mohammed Moulessehoul, a prolific Algerian novelist who writes in French. A former officer in the Algerian army, he adopted his wife's first names as a pseudonym to bypass military censorship during the Algerian Civil War. He revealed his true identity in 2001 after moving to France. His works often explore themes of conflict, radicalism, and the human condition in the Arab world.
